POPUP CO-WORKING SESSIONS
Careers are changing.
More and more of us are transitioning to careers that offer remote opportunities which, although flexible, can also be independent and isolating. Whether you’re a remote developer or a solopreneur, supportive networks are critical to your success.
This is why Chic Geek, in collaboration with the Calgary Public Library, is excited to introduce Chic Geek PopUp Co-working Sessions! These sessions will offer remote workers an opportunity to connect, network, support, and learn from each other. Alternatively, if you are not currently working, our PopUp Co-working Sessions can offer you an opportunity to network with others and gain exposure to careers in technology.
HERE'S THE LOW-DOWN:
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Our PopUp Sessions are open to anyone in the Chic Geek community This doesn’t mean you have to be a computer scientist or software developer, but rather be using, or engaging with, technology in some capacity.
Alternatively, if you are currently not working, attending our PopUp Co-working Sessions can offer you an opportunity to network with others and gain exposure to build your own career in technology. Just remember, Co-working Sessions are an opportunity to work on your own tasks alongside others rather than strictly for networking. There are lots of ways to continue connections after the session!
WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?
Learn about the Chic Geek community and other resources to support you in your exploration through technology
Meet other like-minded Chic Geeks and build meaningful connections
Work on your own projects and get stuff done
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Anything you need to get your work done (laptop, powercord, noteboook etc.)
Business cards, if you have them, to help with follow up
A valid library card number (to use the free internet). If you don't have a library card number, you can get one for free HERE >>
HOW DO POPUP SESSIONS WORK?
On the second Thursday of each month, Chic Geek will host a PopUp Co-working Session at a Calgary Public Library location for a 4-hour period. These sessions will be limited to 15 people to maximize the engagement potential.
For those who have not attended a PopUp Co-working Session before, you will be asked to attend a 15-min one-on-one introduction to the group and how our sessions work. The goal of the one-on-one is to understand what your needs are and if we can support you with other resources available in the larger community. The one-on-one will be hosted by a Chic Geek team member.
All Sessions will be held at the Central Library location (616 Macleod Trail SE)
November we will hold our first session in the NEW Central Library (yay!)
